Shraya Singh is an ex-engineer, writer, and teacher from India and loves frogs, Lord of the Rings memes, and epic fantasy(in no particular order). She has a Bachelor’s in Engineering from Uttar Pradesh and spent a few years in Yokohama, Kanagawa teaching ESL and obsessing over trains. She got her MFA in Fiction in ’24 from Eastern Washington University in Spokane, Washington where she was also the fiction editor for Willow Springs. Her most recent adventure has been mostly frog-related as one of the founding editors for Croak – a frog themed literary magazine.

Shraya’s fiction is often set in India or deals with the Indian diaspora and features themes around religion, religious intolerance, class and caste-based discrimination, as well as relationships that stretch across the intersections of these themes.
In addition to professors, friends, and acquaintances, Shraya is grateful for having received scholarships and support for her writing from Yaddo, Community of Writers, Tin House, Artist Trust, and the Quillisascut Writers’ Workshop.
Currently she is working on her debut short story collection and novel. She is also serving as a mentor for SUNHOUSE’s 2025 mentorship program over the summer!
